The PM Youth Skills Development Program is not an educational program but a vocational training program. Courses offered in the program, which are intended to give marketable skills to the youth, are for short terms only.
They last from a few weeks to several months, with an emphasis on giving participants hands-on experience in a particular trade or skill. Such programs are not intended to replace formal education but are meant to supplement it by providing that practical training enabling the youngster to gain employment and improve his or her prospects for living more economically better. For the duration of the training program, there is an allowance provided to support participant families for living costs.
