Girls-Only Transport Program
Chief Minister Girls-Only Transport Program has been launched that seeks to empower women education in Punjab. In its wake, better transport facilities will be availed of girls from colleges across the province. Its no less than a boon for the students who had to face the problem of commuting from distant areas which affected their education.
- On the inaugural ceremony, Punjab Chief Minister handing over keys of 76 new buses to principles of various women’s colleges. These buses will be available to students of those colleges to be catered to those students wherein public transport facilities would be inadequate. He also went through inspection of these buses and met with the students personally to ensure that they would be compatible with the needs of the students.
Three-Phase Girls-Only Transport Program Rollout
There will be transport facilities for all those girls who are eligible and enrolled in the colleges, divided into three phases.
Buses were made available to 19 tehsils which did not have proper transport facilities. These areas include Bhakkar, Sialkot, Chiniot, Kamalia, Malkwal, and many other areas. These buses will greatly help out those students who had to take expensive transport to attend their classes.
More buses will be provided to colleges in Nowshera Warkan, Dina, Yazman, Pindi Bhatian and other places by the end of February 2025 for transport schemes so that even colleges in less developed areas can avail the benefit.
In the third stage, 32 coaches and two other buses will be distributed in 35 tehsils by March-April 2025. So that all students can gain from this program.
